House-proud
Finally, a house and home of her own! Proudly she presents every
room. She glows as she shows off her kitchen. There is a plate rack
for her plates, a beautiful wooden one. This is her kitchen. There
are beautiful flowers that she has planted outside around the house,
red hibiscuses. It is rare to see houses with flowers and pretty
things outside, maybe this comes with finally owning your own place?
It seems that the two bedrooms are almost exploding with beds and
clothes, standing, hanging and wrapped up everywhere. Ramona has
given birth to twelve children. Eight are still alive – her
youngest is six years old. Ramona was also six when she was given
away by her mother at the bus station in Muy Muy. She married at
fifteen and they moved into her stepfather’s house to take
care of the old man. After 39 years she and her husband finally
have a house of their own. |
